When ChatGPT hit the public in early 2023, I decided to spend some time trying to understand the assumptions about what it means to be human that were built into the design of artificial intelligence from the very beginning. Alan Turing is considered the father of artificial intelligence and reading his 1950 article, "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" helped me understand why.
